What to Expect
All kittens will see a licenced Veterinarian before they go home. They will get age appropriate vaccines at approximately 8 weeks old and again at approximately 12 weeks old. They will also be dewormed. They will either require a spay/neuter contract or be spayed or neutered before they go home.
You should source a local veterinarian and schedule an initial exam visit in anticipation of receiving your kitten. This initial exam will confirm that you have received a healthy kitten, establish a profile and healthcare chart, and build a relationship for future care.
Kittens can be picky eaters. We do feed our kittens a variety of dry kibble and wet foods and have not had any issues doing this. It does make for a smooth transition when something is out of stock or on sale. I can testify that a high quality, nutrient rich diet makes a very positive difference! There are so many good, nutricious options available but we understand that convenience and accessibility very greatly. We will be sure to discuss what your kitten likes at the time of purchase and will certainly send you home with enough to get you started or transitioned to a high quality food of your choosing.
All kittens will go home litter trained using a cluming clay litter. We start out with paper pellet litter and transition to crystal litter and then to clumping clay litter once the kittens are fully litter trained and we are confident that the kittens will not try to eat it. We use standard stainless steel litter boxes and we also utilize several litter robots. We can send you home with a starter bag of clumping clay litter.
We reccomend acquiring a few things for your new kitten's homecoming. Kittens need enrichment, activity and toys. They come with a lot of energy! We recommend some type of Cat Tree, a vertical space specifically designated for the kittens to climb and observe their surroundings. Cats also need some type of scratching post, this will help keep their nails more manageable. You will need some cat nail clippers or a very convenient groomer for that! We do have a no declaw policy. You will need a cat brush for grooming as well. You will also need to select a litter box and something to put their food and water in. There are many very suitable options for this. We look for Heavy glass or stainless steel options as they clean up nicely and cannot be easily tipped over. We also utilize robot feeders and water fountains.
Finally, Ragdoll kittens are bred for their gentle and docile temperament. They are specifically indoor cats and do not have the survival instincts to be outdoors. Ragdolls generally desire companionship and a lot of attention. They are very social and playful creatures! They can also be very loving and cuddly. They do make great family pets. Of coarse, like the rest of us, their energy level does decline with age. We do recommend getting a companion cat for your kitten if they are going to be home alone for extended periods of time, they just do better with a buddy! We also recommend inquiring about adopting a retired Ragdoll if you're looking for an amazing companion cat with a little less energy! Kitten siblings and retired breeders are substantially discounted when available, we would be happy to get you on the waiting list if that if the best fit for your lifestyle!
